April 2025 Wrap-Up

Personal Highlights from this month:

  • Miss R had her 6th-grade middle school tour, and the parents had Open House.
  • That same week, she also went on a field trip to our local science center and dissected a frog. She was equally grossed out and intrigued.
  • Mr. Z got his ACT scores back. He scored a 23, which is really good.

Blog/Reading Highlights from this month:

This was the month of reading series. And it looks like May might be a repeat.

  • I finished the Adrift trilogy. This series is focused on vampires, and I stress this: the vampires in these books are nothing like the myths. I was genuinely freaked out (and will never look at a praying mantis the same way again). If you were to read them, you would find a lot of gore and body horror.
  • I have read books 0.5 and 1 of The Sublime Electricity series. I am waiting for the rest of the series to be translated (it is written in Russian).
  • I started and finished The Ravaged Land series. It was an interesting series with many twists and turns. The last book seemed rushed, but I liked the series.
  • I read and finished the Hell on Earth series. I will warn everyone that it is bloody (lots of blood, guts, and body horror) and the author kills off main characters without a second thought. But I enjoyed this series.
  • I read and finished the Broken World series. I am terrified of anything zombie, so I was surprised when I found myself enjoying this series. Also, while reading it, I came down with a nasty cold (which is how the apocalypse started and how people turned into zombies) and freaked myself out…lol.
  • I also started and finished the Twisted World series. It is set twenty years after the Broken World series, and it was just as good!!
